Ideas for holidays, weekends and trips in Brest and its surroundings

Brest's rich history and cultural heritage make for an extremely interesting visit, and there are many things to do and see near your Premiere Classe Brest-Gouesnou Hotel. One nearby attraction is La Récré theme park, which is only 8km from the hotel. Here, you can go tobogganing and go-karting, experience the thrills of the roller coasters, enjoy the little farm in the park, and much more besides. Brest's maritime heritage is a big part of the city's life, so the Oceanopolis scientific and cultural centre with its 50 aquariums is well worth a visit, and best of all it is only 6km from your Premiere Classe Brest-Gouesnou Hotel. For history lovers, Brest was a city badly hit by the Second World War, and one of the few buildings to survive was the Montbarey Fort. This is now open to visitors, and houses a museum which tells the story of Brest during the war and its post-war resurrection. The Museum of Fine Art was rebuilt after the war and now exhibits 16th century artworks, so to soak up some of the culture of this fine city, why not pay the fort a visit? Festivals are a big part of the cultural life in Brest, and the annual carnival which runs from the middle of July to late August is without a doubt one of the biggest and best there is. It involves traditional Breton music and dance and delicious local food and drink, so is a thoroughly enjoyable event and one to go to if you're around at the right time of year!
